From London: Joe Crepúsculo `Crepus and the spanish legion´

It was strange to see Crepus going around Brick Lane. It was Sunday and there was a street market in the area, where you could find everything, cute things or pieces of junk. We talked and we were a little crazy with the British style, that one that we will never be able to understand although I’m sure we will consume it forever. We had a quick look at some discs. We didn’t know anything on the selfves of “the most demanded” in Rough Trade. We had a look at an instruments shop and we ate a huge hamburger. What with one thing and another, it was the time to make the sound tests.

The Legion is a nice pub really cool located in Old Street, in front of the mithical 333 and Mother, that was going to witness the debut in a foreign country of our national indie star: Joe Crepúsculo. With Sergio / Thelemático Rosa (Thelemáticos, Anticonceptivas). Great moment. The guys from La Fonoteca made an extremely good performance. Two “Madrileños”, Raúl and Pedro, are in charge of a project where they pretend to export our “local” music to the most ”music-passionate” European capital. The foreigners must know what Spain is able to do!! Thanks to that clear idea and just for the fun of it, Joe spent that weekend showing his pop rave of festival in London.

He was the undisputed star of a serial that was opened by two local bands: The Siegfried Sassoon, a kind of Modern Weezers, quite “flamencos” in the use of the keyboard and with more electronic contribution than the Northamerican celebrities mentioned before. The indisputable charisma of the leader was huge: a blond guy called The Welcome Committee, that makes us remember to Placebo in the beginning and really really British, suitable to shake the ass before the main course.

It is Joe time. Suddenly a tumult of flashes, foreigners, and Spanish people approaching to the first row trying not to lose the show that was going to take place. “Bona nit.. qué bien estáis todos en Londres, con esas pintas”. Joe said the first sentence of his eloquent speech between song and song. His pop rave recital was starting and he would squeeze himself to give the best in his solo career. He opened with “El día de las Medusas”, a song that would be followed by Ipod classics like “Escuela de Zebras”, “Fiesta Mayor”, “Gabriela” or the anthem that made him famous after Tarántula: “Suena Brillante”. His KORG R3 sounded spectacular with the Supercrepus style performing “Baraja de Cuchillos”, “Ama y haz lo que quieras” or “La canción de tu vida”. He closed a perfect show with a beautiful bis: “para Elisa from Beethoven in Makina style. Ha!

And Joe conquered us again with his broken voice and his melodies in an astonishing live, as he never did before. And after the concert, the people danced with the set of Hermanas McKenzie Diyáis within Grupejos Dj, from Madrid indie scene.
